As we tie our shoes and boot up our GPSs for a new year of adventures, we bring you more geocaches every week that embody the “wow” factor.
This week, we spotlight ON 12.22 : Roermond – Remunj (GCBDAF8), a cleverly crafted traditional hide tucked into a welcoming residential corner of Roermond, Netherlands, and is both a local charm and a geocaching engineering marvel.
As you arrive at Ground Zero (GZ), you’re greeted by the town’s distinctive charm, setting the stage for the search ahead. Patience is essential here, as the cache page makes it clear this is far from a quick grab-and-go.
After an initial search, you may feel tempted to use the hint on the cache page, which suggests there is mail for you. The only logical object in proximity is a red mailbox. The mailbox opens when you enter the correct combination into its protective lock.

Inside, you’ll find instructions on how to find and unlock the highly anticipated cache. As the details unfold, it soon becomes evident that the nearby well is no coincidence, but the focal point of the search.
Upon unlocking the well and its hoisting mechanism, you come face-to-face with a striking octagon-shaped barrel container, standing proudly in your path. Use the hoisting mechanism to lift the container and gain access to the geocache.

Open the container, and you’ll be awestruck by a diorama depicting a house with different rooms. While each room is quirky in its own way, the common thread is wandering cats making themselves right at home.
Once you’ve spent some time looking at each detail, you’ll find the cache, along with some SWAG, trackables, and the log sheet, carefully tucked into one side.

The cache is listed as owned by both Ommetje_Nederland and nicoletje—a team effort! The cache has already received 55 Favorite points since its publication in December of 2025, and overwhelmingly positive logs.
The cache owners share that countless hours of dedication went into creating this experience. Seekers are encouraged to approach the cache thoughtfully and handle it with care.
