Hiding a geocache just got easier!
With the new coordinate collector in the Geocaching® app (version 10.2.0+ on iOS and version 10.3.0+ on Android), you can collect and name coordinates right in the app. The feature is available now on iOS and will roll out on Android shortly. If you’re on Android and don’t see it yet, it will appear once version 10.3.0 is available to you.
Your saved coordinates automatically sync to your cache owner dashboard on Geocaching.com.
No more screenshots, additional waypoints, or wondering why you saved a location. Just open the Hides tab in the app to access the coordinate collector and get started.
With coordinate collector, you can:
- Collect and name coordinates: Save locations in the app and give each one a custom name, like “By the big pine tree.”
- Gauge GPS accuracy: The app does the work for you—when you tap Collect coordinates, it filters out poor readings and averages multiple signals to give you a more reliable result.
- Access your saved coordinates on Geocaching.com: Your coordinates appear on your cache owner dashboard, ready to use when you create a cache page.
This is just the first step toward a more mobile-friendly hiding experience, with more updates coming soon.
NOTE: Saving coordinates does not reserve or guarantee a location for your cache. To learn more about hiding guidelines, visit the Help Center.
