As our quarter-century anniversary draws to a close, we’re feeling a bit nostalgic. This week, we’d like to share a geocache that pays tribute to something even older than geocaching: the classic children’s movie, Toy Story, released almost exactly 30 years ago, on 19 November 1995. But this isn’t just any old tribute; this cache is a playful spin on one of the film’s iconic scenes. Cache owner, wiwok’s, creativity will grab your attention, and clever design will pull you in before revealing the hidden logbook.

Your first step is to follow the posted coordinates to a quiet industrial street near Ripollet, Spain. Your geo-senses might begin to tingle as you see plenty of places where a large cache could hide. But don’t get any bright ideas that finding this cache will be easy. Look around for a flash of inspiration to guide you to the key before looking for the geocache itself.

Opening this cache will have you “oooohing” in unison just like the aliens in Toy Story. The cache’s title finally makes sense, as “the claw” (“gancho” in Spanish and Catalan) comes into view.

But this toy’s story isn’t over yet. Use the claw machine to find the hidden code to unlock the logbook. Mission accomplished: now you can admire the cache’s details, trade a trackable or two, and leave a wooden coin for the next geocacher.
