No matter your interests or hobbies, there’s a cache (or three, or three million!) out there for you!

For cache owner Fietsoloog geocaching easily lends itself to their other hobby, cycling. So when they decided to place their own caches, they naturally set out to combine their favorite activities with this 12-cache biking and walking tour in the Dutch countryside.

Fietsoloog created this a 5 mile (8 km) loop near the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. Just as they enjoy planning their biking routes around a cache or two, geocachers can enjoy a little exercise and a breath of fresh air while finding these bike-themed geocaches. Geocachers can begin their journey at any one of the twelve caches but we recommend saving this one for last to ensure plenty of time to enjoy it.

For Fietsoloog, biking isn’t just a hobby; it’s a life-long passion. As the owner of a bike shop, they had all the supplies they needed to create these clever caches. The finale, #12 Wandel en fietsplezier XXL-TB hotel, is an extra-special tribute to cycling.

“The TB hotel is an old petrol station and served as a charging point for E-bikes at our bike shop. It hadn’t been used for a while, and so the idea arose to turn it into a TB hotel.”—Fietsoloog

This cache also serves as a cautionary tale about bike safety. Fietsoloog shares their story of a serious bike accident and displays a broken bike-frame to encourage others to always wear a helmet! But the broken frame has a double purpose. The frame is part of the puzzle and one must solve it to open the petrol station-turned-charging-station-turned-geocache.

Once inside, geocachers are treated to a tiny model of Fietsoloog’s bike shop, just the right size to tune up visiting trackables, which hang on hooks above the shop. The cache owner keeps the geocache in pristine condition and even offers a bike pump for your tires if you need it! The logbook is full of signatures and well-wishes from visitors, congratulating Fietsoloog on their recovery and on their excellent cache creation.
